Halloween Friday

Friday night we planned a fun Halloween night with Trevor's parents.  We decided we would carve our pumpkins and watch a scary movie.  Trevor's dad knows how much I love scary movies (he secretly does too) and he was surprised that I had not seen the movie Psycho (the old one that Alfred Hitchcock did, not the new one).  I am not a big black and white movie fan UNLESS it is a scary movie.  I love Alfred Hitchcock so I was all in.  Trevor's dad found us the movie and we spent the evening pigging out on candy, carving our pumpkins and watching Psycho.  Let me just say that the movie did not disappoint.  It was very good and I was scared for the rest of the night so it did its job.

Kirra getting started early with the candy

She did not want anything to do with the pumpkin carving process.  She kept grabbing her Nana and Papa to take her in the other room so she could just dance to the scary music

They take their pumpkin carving very serious

Our finished products.  Kirra is scared of the pumpkins now that they have faces and will not walk past them

My pumpkin was supposed to be a happy Asian.  Looks more like a happy Trevor

They all turned out cool

It was a fun night full of all the things I love about Halloween

Lucy’s Blessing

Sunday was Lucy’s blessing.  Lucy is the cutest and she looked adorable in the dress that Whitney made for her.  I am always amazed at how talented my sister is.  She likes to keep her talents a secret and then whip them out when you least expect it.  The blessing was very sweet and afterward we had fun taking some cute family pictures  It makes me happy to see my family growing.  The only one who was missing was Matt but he was there in spirit.

We started out as a family of 7.  Now there are 12 of us!

Saturday

Saturday Ben and Whitney were busy moving everything into their new house so we took Grace for them and headed to the zoo.  This was Kirra’s first trip to the zoo and it was a big hit.  Kirra loves animals.  The only problem is, she thinks every animal is some form of a dog.  Ben and Whitney have cows in their front yard and every morning she would go outside and start barking and begging to go pet them.  The zoo was not much different.  We asked her what monkey’s say- she responded “woof woof.”  We asked her what birdies say- “woof woof.”  We asked her what alpacas say- “woof woof.”  To her every animal is just a funny looking dog.  It was so funny to watch her face as we went to the different cages.  Grace also had a blast.  She was most impressed by the statues.  Grace is similar to Kirra in that she thinks every animal is like a horse and can be ridden.  Actually, I will revise that and say everyTHING can be ridden.  Grace found a statue of a little boy bending over to look at a monkey and she was determined to ride him.  She climbed up on the bench where he was mounted and climbed right on top of his back.  She cried and fought us when we tried to take her off and move on to the next attraction.  Anytime we saw an animal with four legs she would say “ride the horsy!!”  That girl loves horses.  Anyway both the girls loved all the animals, but the big entertainment of the day was one of those penny drop machines.  It was the one that you stick the penny in and it rolls around and around in a funnel until it reaches the bottom.  I know we spent at least a dollar in pennies entertaining the girls.  When we finally ran out of pennies Grace climbed up on top and tried to stick her arm down the hole to grab a hand full of pennies.  It was extremely entertaining to watch our two little girls exploring the zoo.  It was however extremely hot and we were all exhausted by the end.  We spent the rest of the day relaxing in the pool and taking naps.

Kirra was having her morning bottle and refused to set it down for any of the pictures

The girls loved watching the monkeys

Grace mounting this poor statue boy

She is a cowgirl-no question about that

Kirra wanted to get in on the action

We literally could have taken them to the mall and found one of these dumb machines and they would have enjoyed themselves just as much

Poor Gracie was hot and tired

But still in good spirits

Kirra was a little concerned on the train ride.  Ostriches are extremely odd looking dogs.

Kirra loved the birds-at a distance

Grace loved feeding the birds but didn’t trust them

This bird wanted to test out the Iphone
