retraction

I would like to write a retraction.  Sutton goes to Georgetown, not George Mason.  Haha there is a bit of a difference.
Thank you

Part two-Weekend Fun!

We woke up after our night of fun and decided we wanted to do some hiking.  We got all packed up and headed out to Great Falls.  It was so much fun.  We did the Billy Goat trail which basically consists of climbing up a bunch of rocks.  It was so much fun to do with friends though.  We just talked about life and future plans and enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the potomac river.  We stopped along the way so the boys could jump off some rocks into the water and Kirra could play by the shore.  Little did we know that you are not actually supposed to swim in the river.  I am glad we missed that sign because the boys had a lot of fun climbing the rocks and trying to find higher places to jump.  Sutton and I both agreed that if we lived closer we we do stuff like hiking and exercising a lot more often and we would both be in a lot better shape.  Trevor confirmed that on the way home when he said the same thing so I am pretty sure its time we live closer to each other.  Anyway we made it all the way to Great Falls which is a beautiful view and then we decided it was time to get some food.  No one really wanted to make a decision about lunch so I made if for them and we went to delicious Cafe Rio.  It was so yummy and really hit the spot.  They also have a new mint limeade that I am in love with.  Surprisingly Trevor is not a fan.  It is usually the opposite with things like that.
After our bellies were full we headed home and relaxed while watching a few episodes of Parks and Rec and I eventually fell asleep.  It was nice to have Sutton to play with Kirra while I took a nap.  Sutton’s family has a dog (Bear) that Kirra loves and she stayed up crying all night because I would not let her go upstairs and play with him.  When I woke up we were hanging out listening to music and Trevor and I were trying to decide if we wanted to head home.  We decided we needed to feed Kirra first which turned into another 4 hours of fun.  The girls stayed inside making mac and cheese and watching funny video’s while the boys went outside to make a fire for smores.  When we finally went outside to enjoy the fire the boys had made it started raining and Kirra was getting fussy so we ate our smores, hung out for a while and the girls headed inside.  The boys stayed outside talking and we stayed inside watching Justin Bieber music videos and talking about how we would use Kirra to trick him into giving us free concert tickets or maybe just inviting us to his house.  It is so fun to do dumb girly stuff with friends that will be silly with you.  We also used Sutton’s computer to take funny fat pictures of ourselves.  It was such a fun day and we did so much in such a short time.  What made it even better is that Trevor and I BOTH had a great time and got to do things we enjoy.  It was such a fun weekend and we did so much in the short time we were there.  I can’t wait until our next time hanging out!
Kirra know’s how to hike!

This is embarrassing but it was a pretty steep hill.  There was a couple ladies  at the top cheering me on.

Part One-Weekend Fun

This past weekend we went up to my old home town of McLean Virginia to visit by best friend Sutton and her husband Andrew.  Sutton has been my friend since we were 2 years old.  We have experienced a lot in this life together.  We played barbies together, we vacationed together, we went to girls camp together, we shop together, and we have had each others back through many of life’s trials.  It is amazing because we have lived far away from each other since we were 5 years old but we kept our friendship alive through hours of phone conversations and many trips up and down the road.  It is awesome to know that I have her as a support.  She will always sympathize with me when I need it, and tell me I am wrong when I need to hear it.  I think we are pretty much stuck with each other for life and probably for the life to come.
Anyways this weekend Sutton was on a break from Nursing school.  She is extremely smart and currently in a very time consuming bachelors program at George Mason University.  Trev and I decided to drive up for the weekend and spent some time with her and Andrew before they went back to school.  The day and a half we were there were packed full of fun activities.  The first night we were there Sutton’s parents and sister Avery watched Kirra so that we could have a date night.  We went to Union Station to try out a new Sushi restaurant and it was a fun experience.  I love being in D.C. and the atmosphere there.  We found a parking spot and took a nice walk and took some fun pictures and then entered Yo! Sushi.  It was definitely a taste of Japan.  There was a conveyer belt that we sat around where little plates of sushi would pass buy.  You could take what you wanted and the price depended on the color of the plate.  Everything about this place was awesome.  The crazy japanese music and cartoons playing on the T.V. and the button that you get to push which lights up a stick next to your table so your waiter knows when you need them were just part of the charm of this place.  Also, very wisely, they installed little faucets at every table so you can get your own water and don’t have to wait on anyone when you are thirsty.  We stayed for a couple hours enjoying the yummy food and funny conversation.  Afterward I was determined to go to Georgetown cupcakes to satisfy my sweet tooth.  We drove all the way there only to find out they were CLOSED!  I was disappointed so we stopped at a krispy kreme to get a hot doughnut.  We walked around for a while with our yummy doughnuts and enjoyed listening to an extremely enthusiastic band playing in the street.  It was a fun night with good company and I was sad when it was over.

This one is for Chad

These are the funny cartoons that were playing.  Very entertaining.

Ya gotta have friends

Today we went to the pool to hang out with our friends Nicole and Mckenna. Mckenna is 2 years older than Kirra but she is Kirra’s best friend. These girls are so cute together. They usually fight over toys and Kirra likes to hit Mckenna and pull her hair, but they play well together for the most part. Nicole has been one of my best friends for years. She is the big sis I never had. She is fun to hang out with and she always lets me complain but never too much. She gives me good advise and most of the time I listen to it;) She helped me with my mission, dating, my wedding, and now she helps me with mom advise. Also she doesn’t let me get away with being a lazy bum and hiding in my house, which I sometimes like to do. I hope Kirra finds some good girl friends like I have that will help her enjoy her life a little more.

Had to Share

Fall is coming!

I won’t say that fall is here, but it is definitely coming.  The air is feeling cooler in the morning and evening.  I noticed yesterday as I was sitting outside with my little Kirra bear that the leaves on one of our trees are turning yellow and starting to fall off the tree.  I am sad that I will probably miss the full on fall  that Virginia has to offer and hoping that California can compensate a little.  Anyway, of course as soon as I saw leaves on the ground I had to get out my camera.  Its so hard for me because I have an image in my head of what I want my pictures to look like and the things I want people to feel when they see them but I don’t have all of the right equipment yet.  So these are not what I hoped they would be but they will do for a practice round.

I thought kirra would like leaves as much as she likes flowers but that is not the case!
