Lucy’s Blessing

Sunday was Lucy’s blessing.  Lucy is the cutest and she looked adorable in the dress that Whitney made for her.  I am always amazed at how talented my sister is.  She likes to keep her talents a secret and then whip them out when you least expect it.  The blessing was very sweet and afterward we had fun taking some cute family pictures  It makes me happy to see my family growing.  The only one who was missing was Matt but he was there in spirit.

We started out as a family of 7.  Now there are 12 of us!

Saturday

Saturday Ben and Whitney were busy moving everything into their new house so we took Grace for them and headed to the zoo.  This was Kirra’s first trip to the zoo and it was a big hit.  Kirra loves animals.  The only problem is, she thinks every animal is some form of a dog.  Ben and Whitney have cows in their front yard and every morning she would go outside and start barking and begging to go pet them.  The zoo was not much different.  We asked her what monkey’s say- she responded “woof woof.”  We asked her what birdies say- “woof woof.”  We asked her what alpacas say- “woof woof.”  To her every animal is just a funny looking dog.  It was so funny to watch her face as we went to the different cages.  Grace also had a blast.  She was most impressed by the statues.  Grace is similar to Kirra in that she thinks every animal is like a horse and can be ridden.  Actually, I will revise that and say everyTHING can be ridden.  Grace found a statue of a little boy bending over to look at a monkey and she was determined to ride him.  She climbed up on the bench where he was mounted and climbed right on top of his back.  She cried and fought us when we tried to take her off and move on to the next attraction.  Anytime we saw an animal with four legs she would say “ride the horsy!!”  That girl loves horses.  Anyway both the girls loved all the animals, but the big entertainment of the day was one of those penny drop machines.  It was the one that you stick the penny in and it rolls around and around in a funnel until it reaches the bottom.  I know we spent at least a dollar in pennies entertaining the girls.  When we finally ran out of pennies Grace climbed up on top and tried to stick her arm down the hole to grab a hand full of pennies.  It was extremely entertaining to watch our two little girls exploring the zoo.  It was however extremely hot and we were all exhausted by the end.  We spent the rest of the day relaxing in the pool and taking naps.

Kirra was having her morning bottle and refused to set it down for any of the pictures

The girls loved watching the monkeys

She is a cowgirl-no question about that

Kirra wanted to get in on the action

We literally could have taken them to the mall and found one of these dumb machines and they would have enjoyed themselves just as much

Poor Gracie was hot and tired

But still in good spirits

Kirra was a little concerned on the train ride.  Ostriches are extremely odd looking dogs.

Kirra loved the birds-at a distance

Grace loved feeding the birds but didn’t trust them

This bird wanted to test out the Iphone

Sad

It is very sad to me that so many American people have chosen to not include God in our country anymore.  I now understand why our homes should be such sacred places.  There seems to be less and less room in the inn.

Once in a Blue Moon

So this past weekend we drove to Florida to meet up with the rest of my family.  My sister and her family just moved to Florida for her husband’s new job and she just had a baby so they decided to do the blessing when Trev and I could come.  The first day we were there was so fun.  We met up with my parents at their hotel and played in the pool for a while.  Kirra is so funny and loves to jump in the pool but she does not like anyone to catch her.  We would stand in front of her and she would run to the side of us and jump in before we could get her.  She is fearless!  Anyway Ben and Whitney met up with us at the hotel and we all went to the beach.  We had fun playing in the water and soaking up the sun.  I will miss East Coast beaches and the warm water.  Grace and Kirra were so cute together.  Grace likes to hold Kirra’s hand and Kirra loves to do anything that Grace is doing.  They loved playing in the water and in the sand.  I loved getting them together.  Kirra also LOVES her new cousin Lucy.  Anytime she saw Lucy she wanted to hold her.  She would go sit in a chair and hold her arms out like she was ready.  She would kiss her forehead and pat her head (as gently as she knew how).  She also liked to watch when Lucy was having her diaper changed.  She will be a great helper one day when she is a big sister.  Anyway after the beach we went out for pizza!  It was so yummy!  I don’t know if it was just because I was starving or because it was really delicious but I loved it.  The pizza place was right by the beach and it happened that we were there on the night of a blue moon.  After dinner we kind of parted ways because Ben and Whitney had some furniture that needed to be taken home so Trevor took me, Kirra, and Keaton to the boardwalk to watch the blue moon.  It was a really nice night and there were lots of photographers out and even a little band that was out specifically to sing to the blue moon.  Kirra would run up and down the boardwalk occasionally stopping to dance to the music being played.  It was a great atmosphere and everyone was so friendly.  Trevor and I both would love to find a place to live with that kind of atmosphere.  Anyway the first day of our trip was lots of fun and well worth the 12 hour drive through the night.

Me and my big two year old niece

Passed out after a long day

It was huge and delicious

Kirra loved it too.  She loves using a fork.  If she can’t get things to stick on the fork she will pick them up and force them on.

She must have liked her pizza cause she wanted to take it to go.

Keaton turned 13 on this trip and got a sweet yoyo

Don’t you hate my sister.  She had a baby less than a month ago and she looks like this.

We have quite a few pictures just like this one.  I love to look and them and she how we have all changed.

THis is what the blue moon looked like.   Not really blue. except when the clouds were covering it.
