Hi. My name is Kirra and I am a watermelon-aholic.

Kirra LOVES watermelon.  She knows when we have it and she could probably eat a whole watermelon by herself.  The other day we had cut one open which made her day.  We gave her a bowl full.  Then another bowl full.  Then ANOTHER bowl full.  Then we decided she had had enough and we cut her off.  Lucky for, her someone left a half eaten piece of watermelon on the table.  She climbed up and while no one was looking she dove in; NO hands.

Check out the juice dripping down her chin and the dazed expressing on her face

See why we have to cut her off.  It makes her crazy

Have you ever seen The Emperor's New Groove.  I feel like  the sound coming from her mouth should sound a lot like Yzma’s laugh when she is turned into a cat.

A few Kirra facts

I feel like my little baby is growing up so fast.  She watches EVERYTHING that we do and she is determined, despite her small size, to do it too.  I kind of hate it because I have to watch her like a hawk but it is also very entertaining. I love being her mom.  She is such an amazing little girl and surprises me every day.  Here are a few things about Kirra that make me smile.

1.  She loves flowers.  During the day if someone leaves the door open she runs outside as fast as she can and starts picking flowers.  Whenever we take walks I love to pick her new flowers that she hasn't seen before and watch her little face light up.

These are more like weeds than flowers but I don't think it matters to her.

2.  She loves the park.  She will go down any slide, no matter how high.  She does not need any help climbing on the equipment.  She loves playing with other  kids.  I only wish we had a park closer to our house.

3.  She is sneaky.  Every now and then it gets really quiet in the house and I always know she is up to something.  The other day I found her with a mouth full of thumb tacks.  I know that she understands me when I say things to her.  She understands simple commands especially the word NO.  Sometimes when she is in a sneaky mood I will say "No" and she will just run that much faster to do whatever it is that I don't want her doing.  No person, object, height, or fence can stop her.
You can't see from the top, but this fence is locked

4.  She thinks anything we do, she can do too.  Including weight lifting.  You can't tell from the pictures but she is really putting effort into lifting this bar.

Look at that determination

5.  She has some great fashion sense, but doesn't exactly know what to do with that fashion sense yet.  For example, if there is a pile of shoes by the door, she will always grab the cutest ones to try on.  She is also learning to dress herself.  The other day I watched her put on a pair of shorts, one foot in each hole, it was impressive.  Unfortunately she did not pull the shorts up but still tried to walk in them.  She didn't get very far.  Yesterday we found a pair of sunglasses that were pretty cute and she picked them up but she still hasn't figured out that they go on your eyes.  She likes to wear them on her neck.

Sh has to keep her chin down to keep it up.  It kind of looks like she can't breath when she is wearing them.

6.  She loves grocery shopping.  She really likes to be pushing the cart, but she will settle for just going for a ride.

First time seeing Lobsters

6.  She is my little cuddle muffin.  My favorite time of day is bottle time.  Kirra LOVES drinking her bottle.  She goes into a trance and becomes very calm and cuddly.
7.  She is a multitasker.  She can walk and chew gum as my dad always says.  She always has to have something in each hand.  She will made a great mommy one day.

She can vacuum and push a stroller.  That's talent.

8.  She loves sweets.  When I was pregnant sugar was the only thing I could eat that didn't make me sick so it doesn't surprise me.

Oreos make me this happy too.

Can't really tell but she is taking her freeze pop very seriously.
9.  She loves attention and knows how to get it.  As much as I hate when she is whiny, I love being needed.

10.  She is an excellent sleeper!  She takes two naps a day and goes to bed at 8:00.  She usually never gets up earlier than 7 and sleeps until 8 sometimes.  I always have to check on her a few times during nap time because she will sometimes wake up and just sit in her crib quietly looking at a book instead of crying to let me know she is up.

It's hard to believe that this is just the beginning.  It's amazes me the amount of joy, happiness, and purpose this girl brings to our lives.

Lately

Lately Trevor’s job has been very demanding.  He goes to work at 6:30 and doesn’t get home until 8 or 9 at night sometimes.  This week he did not even get one day off.  Things could be like this for a while until the mess from the storm that hit last week is cleaned up.  I am grateful for all of the extra overtime hours he has been getting but it is really starting to stink.  Kirra was waiting near the door at 5:00 pm yesterday and every time someone walked in she would run to the door thinking it was her dad and come back disappointed when it wasn’t.  I kind of felt the same way.  Trevor always makes everything more fun and I can’t wait until his schedule gets back to normal.

In the mean time I have been spending a lot of quality time with Kirra.  It has been extremely hot outside but going outside is Kirra’s favorite thing to do.  Luckily for her birthday we got a fun little kiddie pool.  It makes the time while daddy is gone go by much faster and it is a great way to stay cool.  She has been learning how to blow bubbles, kick her feet, and jump in.  She can’t count to three but she makes the sounds like she is counting and then will jump off a chair into the kiddie pool.  She is fun to watch and even more fun to photograph.  I can’t wait until I can get back into school and maybe start taking some photography classes but in the mean time I love practicing with my favorite little girl.  I am grateful for my hardworking husband who makes it possible for me to hang out with her every day.

4th of July

Our original plan for the 4th of July did not work out.  Trevor had was supposed to have the day off but because of the monster storm that hit, he had to work.  Luckily for us we got an invite from our friends the Whittier’s to go to their house for a cook out.  It turned out to be really fun.  They had a really fun slip and slide, corn holes, bocce ball, lots of good food and some fun fireworks.  It was a great way to celebrate our country’s independence.

Kirra loves the four wheeler.  She is always using her cuteness and charm to convince her uncles or dad to give her  a ride.

MMM...fourth of July food.

The water was freezing but refreshing on such a hot day.

These boys spent a lot of time filling up these balloons for a water balloon fight.

They had a pretty full bucket.  Once the fight started though the bucket did not last long.

Corn holes is by far one of my favorite games.

Everyone was having fun on the trampoline.

Kirra loves slides.  She will go down them a hundred times and does not care how high they are.

The Whittiers have a slide build right off their deck so you don’t even have to take the stairs down.  Kirra thought it was the best thing ever.

The ladies trying to stay dry.

This one was after the water fight.

Kirra HATES fireworks.  She cries the whole time and holds onto me as tight as she can.   Poor girl is traumatized I think.

We had a lot of fun with the glow sticks.

It was a really fun night and I am glad we had good friends to celebrate with.  I love this summer and I feel like it is going way to fast.
